Day 1 Tunis – Arrival
Upon arrival in Tunis, you will be met by your private driver/guide and taken to your hotel for check-in. Depending on your time of arrival, you will begin to explore Tunis with a visit to the old medina with the amazing architecture. Next stop will be the souks were you can shop North African handcraft products such as carpets, wool, spices, coper and many more. Depending on the time we will also visit the visit modern Tunis. Overnight in Tunis
Day 2 Sedjenane – Green Hill – Bald Hill – Djebal Abiad – Tabarka
Early morning we will drive to Tarbarka. Along the wat we will explore the Commando battlefields of Sedjenane, Green Hill, Bald Hill, and Djebel Abiad. At the end of the day we will also visit the Tabarka war cemetery. Overnight in Tarbarka.
Day 3: Beja – Hunts Gap – Sidi Nsir – Mater – Jdeida – Tunis
After breakfast we drive to Beja via the roman site of Bulla Regea. Visit to Beja war cemetery that is located about 100km west of Tunis. Beja War Cemetery contains 396 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, 87 of them unidentified. Next we drive to Sidi Nsir via Hunts gap where Blade Force passed through to reach the Chouigui Pass, north of Tebourba. Then to jdaida where part of Blade infiltrated behind Axis(Germans and Italians) lines to the newly activated airbase and destroyed more than 20 Axis planes. Transfer to Tunis for the overnight.
Day 4 Mejaz El Bab – Long Stop Hill – Teboura – Massicault – Tunis
After a good breakfast we continue our world war adventure to the Mejerda Valley where the most intense fighting between the Axis and the Allied took place. We explore the early encounters of operation Oxhead, and the many actions of 5th Corps during the final offencive. Also we visit the battle sight of Long stop Hill and other sites where the military decoration of the Victoria Cross were earned. We will also visit the Massicault War Cemetery at Medjez that is located approximately 30 kilometres south-west of Tunis. At the end of the day will return to Tunis for dinner, and the overnight.
Day 5 Enfida Ville – Takrouna – Hammamet
In de morning we visit the scene of Eighth Army’s final battles at Enfidaville and Takrouna. We visit the CWGC Cemetery at Enfidaville and the Free French War Cemetery at Takrouma. Next we will drive up to Takrouna Hill. This hill was of strategic value, and there were a lot of sacrifices made, with great loss of life. On top of Takrouna Hill you have a breathtaking panoramic view overlooking the surrounding plain, Gulf of Hammamet, with Sousse & Hergla to the east, Djebel Zaghouan to the north, and Kairouan to the South. We will overnight in the seaside town of Hammamet.
Day 6 Hammam Lif – Carthage – Sidi Bousaid – Tunis
After breakfast we will drive through the gap at Hammam Lif were the Germans had observation posts well dug in, and were overruled by the Allied. Next stops are dedicated to the German, US and French war cemeteries. We continue to the UNESCO sight of Carthage where we have a quick visit, before we go to the stunning photogenic village of Sidi Bou Said with its distinctive architecture that is a mix of the Andalusian, Ottoman, and of Spanish Muslims. Sidi Bou Said overlooks the Gulf of Tunis. We overnight in Tunis.
Day 7 Tunis – Home
After breakfast, you will be transferred by bus to the airport for departure.
