Tunisia Sahara Tour

Day 1 Djerba – Tataouine – Chenini – Douiret – Ksar Ghilane

Your tour will depart from Djerba around 8:00am for the desert town of Tataouine, via the Roman Causeway. As we continue enroute to Chenini we will stop for a visit of an exotic African spice market. We will visit the Douiret lodge then have Lunch. After lunch we will continue towards Ksar Ghilane, a vast desert oasis. This is where many scenes from the movie The English Patient were shot. This will be our destination for the evening – a camping site with Bedouin tents. Here you can enjoy extra activities such as horse or camel riding, or adventure on a walk out into the dunes. An outdoor evening meal will be served to nourish and encourage you to sit back and relax. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert under a vast sky full of brilliant stars. Outdoor camping Bibene

Day 2 Ksar Ghilane – Douz – Tozeur

After breakfast your tour will depart for a visit to a nearby natural hot water spring. Enjoy a swim in the warmth of this naturally heated water source. After a relaxing swim, we will continue towards the town of Douz and visit the local market for a view of the many handcrafts created by talented local craftsmen. If you would like, from Douz you can adventure out into the desert dunes on a guided camel carivan ride. Your tour will continue through the vast dry salt lake of Chott El Jerid towards the quaint green oasis of Tozeur. Here you can explore the area, take a horse-drawn buggy ride, or just relax and have a nice rest for the evening. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 3 Tozeur – Chebika – Tamerza – Kebili – Matmata – Djerba

After breakfast your tour will depart for the desert oasis’ areas of Chebika and Tamerza. We will also visit the Oasis de Montagnes (Mountains), the large Cascades, and the Canyons of Mides. Your tour will return to Kebili for lunch. Afterwards, we will continue on to Matmata where we will explore some of the intriguing underground cave-like dwellings of the troglodyte people. This is one of the sites in Tunisia where some scenes from the movie Star Wars were shot. From here your tour will return to Djerba via the ferry at Ajim. You should arrive at your hotel around 18:30.
