Zaytouna Mosque

The medina was born with the establishment of the Zaytouna mosque. Everything in the media leads to or from the here, and it covers an area of 5,000 square metres. It has nine entrances, and the 160 authentic columns brought originally from the ruins of the old Roman city of Carthage. It was built in AD 734, and rebuild in the 9th century by Ahmed ibn Mohammed. The mosque known hosts an imported Islamic university.
