Nabeul

Nabeul is a coastal town in northeastern Tunisia, located 18km north of hammemet. It was founded in the 5th century BC by the Greeks of Cyrene, serving as a trade port. The city has a population of more than 50.000, and its Tunisian main pottery industry. Nabeul is more quite than hammamet, with less hotel and resorts. The Friday souvenir market is a popular happing for locals and foreign people. Another major tourist event is Nabeul’s the camel market.

Other attraction in the area is Nabeul’s museum that historical items from the Punic, Roman, mosaics. The museum is not that big but sure is worth a visit. About 1,5 km southwest of the Nabeul’s centre you find the ruin of Neapolis. This city goes back to the 5th century when the punic’s come to shore. Later is became a Roman town, and producing food products, and to trade them. You find a lot of information in the museum.
