Korbous

The town huddles in a narrow ravine opening on to the sea. It’s surrounded by cliffs, and it’s famous for its hot springs. The popularity started already frequented in Roman times, Korbous was known as Aquae Calidae Carpitanae. The hot springs where discovered. Ahmed Bey rediscovered these hot springs in 1800 and established the spa, which was further developed by the French. The water, with its calcium, sulfur and sulfates, is recommended for the treatment of skin conditions, affections of the respiratory passages, rheumatism and arthritis. At Ain Atrous, about 1.5km north of the town, a hot spring floats directly into the sea.
