Kerkennah Island

The Kerkennah Islands consists of nine islands lying off the east coast of Tunisia in the Gulf of Gabes, about 25km east of Sfax. The islands are laying no more than 13m above sea level. The main islands are Chergui (2000 inhabitants), and Gharbi, and are connected by a small causeway. The islands are fun to visits by boot, and to enjoy a pick nick. There are not too many tourist attractions here, besides itā€™s a good spot to fish. Borj El Hissar is an old fort in a great setting so close to the sea. It was built in the 16th century by the Spanish. The Romans also built some structures around the fort.
