Utique

Utique is an ancient city located between Carthage in the south and Bizerte. The city is to be considered the first Phoenician settlement in North Africa, founded about 1100 BC. About 300 years later Carthage was built, and the city where each other’s revivals for more than 1000 years. Utica was founded as a port located on the trade route leading to the Straits of Gibraltar and the Atlantic, facilitating Phoenician trade in the Mediterranean. The museum of Utique show object from the Punic times found at the sights nearby, and on Necropoli, some remarkable mosaics. The house of the Cascade that was built between 69 and 96 BC. The house has a nice central patio, and also decorated with some fantastic mosaics such as a fountain.

Ghar el Melh
The city of Ghar el Melh is a coastal town, originally founded by the pirates between 1637 and 1640. Its located on the south side of Jebel Nadour with is peak on 325m. It’s a nice place to relax with a Ottoman fort to explore.

Sidi Ali el makki
This coastal town has a beautiful beach for swimming. In the winter time it’s very quit, but in the summer you find a lot of local Tunisians. Sidi Ali el makki has also a history with pirates.
